Syann & Jay's Anniversary Session at the Raleigh Rose Garden

Syann and Jay have been married for a few years, but had never had professional photos taken together, not even for their wedding. When they came to Raleigh from Pennsylvania for a concert and a little anniversary trip, they found me and decided it was finally time to change that. I'm so so glad they did!!

We spent the afternoon exploring the Raleigh Rose Garden, JC Raulston Arboretum, and a few spots around the city as they played tourists for the day. They laughed pretty much the entire time, and they were so naturally comfortable and silly together that I swear my cheeks hurt from smiling by the end of the shoot. Photographing queer couples and getting to document relationships that feel this genuine is always such a joy, and Syann and Jay were an absolute dream to photograph.

Their Raleigh anniversary session was a mix of beautiful gardens, wandering around the city, lots of laughter, and the kind of little moments that make photos feel like you actually remember how a day felt. I'm so happy their first professional photos together ended up being part of a little anniversary adventure in Raleigh.
